What is the Wage Protection Program?
The Wages Protection Program monitors wage disbursement processes for all Saudi and expatriate male and female workers in the private sector establishments in order to create a database containing updated information on the payment of wages to workers in the private sector and to determine the extent of the establishments’ commitment to pay wages at the agreed time and value.
What are the consequences of not complying with the wage protection program?
Four measures will be considered; Either advice, guidance, warning, written warning, or detection of a violation. When a violation is detected, the following will be done:
- Suspension of the Ministry's services for the facility to which the shop belongs
- Addressing government agencies to close the shop
- Other penalties stipulated in the work system and measures are adopted according to the nature of the violations. Violation of feminization and settlement will be followed by stopping the ministry’s services, while other violations may range from advice and guidance to written warning and with a written warning or warning, the government agencies affiliated to the Emirate of the region will be notified, such as the municipal secretariat, the branch of the Ministry of Commerce and the General Directorate Passports in the event of other violations that fall within the supervisory scope of these authorities.
